I'm excited to show some of my work from Marvel's Spider-Man 2!
I was responsible for building and detailing a version of the Hell Gate Bridge that spans the East River based on the real-world arch bridge. Its size and location were altered to fit the game's version of NYC, but the general aesthetic and proportions were kept realistic to evoke the recognizable landmark.
I planned and built all structural models for the bridge and the towers at either end. A grunge mask setup pass on the models was completed by external artists before my final polish pass. The train track treatment was created by other Insomnaic artists and used as a standard system across the city's elevated rail lines. I authored some unique surfaces for the bridge and towers by spinning off versions of core materials created by Insomniac's dedicated material/texture team.
I also created the North Brother Island Ferry Gantry that sits near the bridge using mostly unique assets and prepared it for the destruction pipeline so that our VFX team could blow it up during the "Not On My Watch" mission.
